Diana Ross, Woman in Gold, Original painting
Medium/Materials: Acrylic paint on Canvas
“Diana Ross, Woman in Gold” is a showboat painting, by Michelle that shares a narrative with the viewer of a Motown singer who has withstood the test of time as a performer; an astounding career that spans more than four decades. Miss Ross rose to fame as the lead singer of the vocal group the Supremes, and in 1969, left to embark a solo career.
Imbuing Miss Ross’s signature black voluminous hair with embossed script, Michelle weaves a narrative of this legend’s illustrious career.
Inspired by Gustavo Klimt’s 1907, “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I,” Michelle has rendered the swirls and splendour background with gold metallic and gold leaf paint with a special focus on decorative motifs in bas-relief, complimenting the decorative Egyptian inspired geometrical motif of her clothing.
