Unique to this painting, is it’s round canvas. Deliberately selected by Michelle, as a homage to movie classics, captured through the lens of a cinematographer.
And who can forget this scene from the 1960 film, “Psycho” directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock. Michelle puts the viewer in the role of the voyeur, just at the moment when actor Janet Leigh (playing secretary, Marion Crane), in the infamous shower scene, looks in horror at her soon-to-be slasher, from behind the drawn shower curtain. The reflection of lethal dagger can be seen in her eyes.
Michelle’s reinterpretation of this scene, with her palette of cool blues and whites, is more sanitized than horrific. She includes a row of whimsical rubber duckies to soothe our beating hearts and be sure not to miss the profile portrait of Hitchcock himself.
