MICHELLE VELLA LAUNCHES NEW COLLECTION 
AT YORKVILLE VILLAGE POP-UP, SEPEMBER 8 -17 

‘WIDE BIG EYES’ capsule home collection features hand-painted luxury furniture in signature pop art style 

TORONTO, August 31, 2018 – Toronto pop artist, Michelle Vella, launches her new capsule home collection at Yorkville Village with a gallery pop-up from September 8–17. The collection includes one-of-a-kind hand-painted Eames Elephants by Vitra in collaboration with Studio B. Visitors to the pop-up will have the chance to discover and shop original artwork, limited-edition prints, women’s fashion and accessories and hand-painted Eames Elephants and hand-painted Bidinis premium Italian leather bags. 

Early next year, Vella will be participating in the 20th Interior Design Show (IDS) from January 17–20 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. IDS is Canada’s premium showcase of design-focused products, encouraging the promotion of rising talents and the latest tech innovation. Throughout the three-day event, attendees can get a close-up look at Vella’s full collection of big and small hand-painted Eames Elephants, Panton Chairs designed by Verner Panton for Vitra, as well as original and limited-edition artwork. A portion of the hand-painted Eames Elephants sales will be donated to Save The Elephants. 

Recently featured in Harper’s BAZAAR Thailand and W Magazine, Vella is best known for her portraits, contemporary pop art style and fashion illustration. She has been commissioned by industry icons like Diane von Furstenberg, Iris Apfel and Jeanne Beker. 

About MICHELLE VELLA 

Michelle Vella is a contemporary pop artist known for her unique WIDE BIG EYES art style. With an education in fine arts and having been a graphic design business owner for over a decade, Vella has paved a new career for herself as a full-time artist at age 50. Currently based in Toronto, Canada, she kickstarted her career in the New York fashion scene. In 2015, she caught the eyes of fashion designer and icon Diane von Furstenberg, who discovered her paintings on Instagram. Vella’s portrait of von Furstenberg now sits in her art collection at the DVF Fashion House in NYC. Vella is now in high demand, garnering commissions and collaborations with corporate and private collectors from around the world. Her work will soon be housed in St. Michael’s Hospital neonatal ward. She has been featured in the following: Harper’s BAZAAR, CNN Style, The MARILYN DENIS Show, ELLE CANADA, and W Magazine.
